First up, a belated welcome to the people I added from the fandom!secrets friending meme! \o/ As you may or may not have noticed, I've been pretty lax about keeping my journal up to date; whether or not it's down to DW still being a rather quiet site or just a sheer lack of motivation on my part, I'm not really sure...

I'm really, really into Utena right now. I like just about all the characters everyone else hates, so evidently I'm a massive trainwreck of unpopular opinions waiting to happen.

Apart from that~, I got some Madoka Magica figmas in the mail the other day! Specifically, I got Mami and Homura; those things are dear enough that I might as well just get my favourite characters, though I do love all five main magical girls... anyway, I'm really pleased with 'em! It's not even that hard to swap equipment and body parts around as I like - well, except for when I managed to split the top of my left thumb swapping Homura's arm so she could have her shield. Ouch. Still, it was nowhere near as hard as that one randomised Nenderoid Petite figure I got a few years ago; I remember spending about an hour struggling to attach that thing's arm, and even now I'm afraid to touch her in case that arm falls off and I have to go through it all again! You can tell I'm totally unpractised with these kinds of figures.

Heh, I'd probably do the same thing with those kinds of figurines, since I have no experience with them, either. But it's good that they sound like they sound like they're of pretty high quality.

About my general fannishness for it, or my unpopular opinions? A lot of my unpopular feels come about because my favourite character happens to be the most hated character in the fandom, plus the fact that there are basically no characters I hate (the closest I get to any is strongly disliking Ruka, not caring much for Akio, and being annoyed by manga!Juri). I've splurged a few of them on Tumblr, but those are just the tip of the iceberg, really... I can see myself spouting more on IRG and here, too. Time will tell~.

I'm guessing that your favorite character is Shiori? I don't like her much, but she's not the monster that the fandom makes her out to be (and, even though I don't think it excused how she acted to Juri...I too have crippling self-esteem issues and I can't but feel a little jealous of my friends that seem to have it all together). Also, Ruka is a giant douche.

(And...yikes. After going through your Tumblr like a creeper to make sure, I realize it was you that I made that gross comment to about the Shiori/Ruka/Juri thing. I am really, really sorry and I wish I had thought out what I was saying better because it seems more and more disgusting the more I think about it.)

Yup, Shiori. I know she's no saint, and I guess the way I interpret her character is a little off the beaten track, but the fact remains that fandom loves to act like she's the scum of the universe - while often downright refusing to acknowledge Ruka's flaws, I've noticed.

(It's okay! In fact, I don't even remember seeing a comment like that directed at me, so you're forgiven. ^^; Besides, it's not like I don't expect Shiori-dislike, nor would I ever force people into liking her.)
