I finally have a new PC! \o/

Got a new monitor with it, too. It's big and it's beautiful and I'm gonna need to get used to how huge it is. Huge improvement on the tiny overly-light screen I was having to work with on the laptop! Looking forward to being able to make icons and write fanfic and watch anime again -- all things I've missed since the previous PC gave up the ghost.

And since it's been a few months since I last bothered to post anything here: I've recently played and finished Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Rain Code, both of which are games I enjoyed very very much. :3

welp

My computer died last week.

It was nine years old, so it was inevitably going to happen at some point (especially what with it being Windows 8.1, which I hear stopped getting security updates at the end of last month) but it still went downhill more suddenly than I was expecting. Fortunately I have not lost my stuff -- I got it all backed up on to my external drive in time -- but the computer itself is unusable now.

I'm on a basic laptop right now, which is at least enough to do the essentials on; I don't know when I'll be able to get another decent computer, but I'm pretty sure it won't be anytime particularly soon. There's some things I miss already, like being able to make more icons, but I'll just have to do without them for the time being.

I was at least able to watch last week's Nintendo Direct live, though! Off the top of my head: the new Rain Code trailer was expected but very welcome all the same, more stuff on Engage DLC was cool (plus the free update adding Recreation was a godsend), DecaPolice looked interesting, and remasters for both Baten Kaitos games were a nifty surprise.

Not all bad news, then! Still some bad news -- right now I'm worried my car might be on its way out too -- but at least there's a bit of silver lining on all these clouds.

It sure is great to have a cold on Christmas day! ... By which I mean it's a royal pain in the ass, of course. I hate having to blow my nose near-constantly and barely being able to breathe through my nostrils at night (after having taken relief meds, I should add). ~.~;

On the other hand, I've had nice presents like Root Letter on the Vita and a couple of Pokémon plushies today, so annoying illness aside, it hasn't been a bad holiday period at all!

As for how 2016's been for me... fandom-wise, I've fallen hard into visual novel hell (I must've bought, what, at least ten games on MangaGamer after making my first purchase from them in February?), Fire Emblem: Fates eventually came to the UK in May (I'm still not even particularly near finished with the Nohr path...), I've been on a wild ride with the Dangan Ronpa 3 anime and am currently looking forward to New Dangan Ronpa V3 coming out next year, and last but not least, Pokémon Moon's been awesome. There's a few more that I fell in and/or out of interest in, but the above are the key ones as far as I'm concerned.

ETA: Oh, there's a key fandom I forgot! To anyone who likes pixel horror games and can handle some pretty heavy subject matter, I highly recommend END ROLL!

Considering how near-silent I've been on here, if anyone has any questions regarding my fandoms and my opinions on them, just ask and I'll try and answer. :3

I should get back into using this thing! I know I've said things along those lines before without them coming to anything, and there's a good chance I'll still be quiet here, but I think I should be more firm about it this time...

Let's start with a life update, shall we? It's not the happiest one, because my job ended in the middle of May. D: It's nobody's fault, as such; I didn't want to go, and my bosses didn't want me to go either, but the contract ended and the company's so small that there just wasn't enough money in the business to keep me on. So that means I'm job-hunting again. I feel like there's more out there on the job market than there was before, but still, I miss the job I had. I really enjoyed it there. ;.;

Some rather expensive things happened in the last month, too, but I'd rather not get into that in a public entry... but other than all that, I've been doing okay!

I don't know if I'll actually break the habit of leaving my poor old journal abandoned for several weeks at a time, but at least it's around for me if I need somewhere private for my thoughts on anything, which is more than can be said about a certain other blog I've been using more often... *cough cough*

Yow, yet another long gap between updates. @.@;

And where have I got to now in Fire Emblem: Awakening, since that was the last thing I talked about here? Well... embarrassingly enough, because I put it off to the side for a while, I only beat chapter 16 the other day and have only just gotten my first non-Lucina child character today! >>; And the only pairs who got married since my last shipping tally are Virion/Cherche and Olivia/Henry, though I think Maribelle/Ricken and Gregor/Panne are close to that point now.

I'm really, really, really looking forward to the new Pokémon games that are coming out in October, and nearly every single thing I hear about them is making me want them all the more. I'm planning to get the Y version, and at this point I just want it to be October 12th already! (Thank the stars for the worldwide simultaneous release!)

I would say I'd try to update more often, but knowing how I've been lately, I can't make any promises at all. D:
mikogalatea: Wakaba from Revolutionary Girl Utena, looking cheerful. ([Utena] Wakaba)
First up, a belated welcome to the people I added from the fandom!secrets friending meme! \o/ As you may or may not have noticed, I've been pretty lax about keeping my journal up to date; whether or not it's down to DW still being a rather quiet site or just a sheer lack of motivation on my part, I'm not really sure...

I'm really, really into Utena right now. I like just about all the characters everyone else hates, so evidently I'm a massive trainwreck of unpopular opinions waiting to happen.

Apart from that~, I got some Madoka Magica figmas in the mail the other day! Specifically, I got Mami and Homura; those things are dear enough that I might as well just get my favourite characters, though I do love all five main magical girls... anyway, I'm really pleased with 'em! It's not even that hard to swap equipment and body parts around as I like - well, except for when I managed to split the top of my left thumb swapping Homura's arm so she could have her shield. Ouch. Still, it was nowhere near as hard as that one randomised Nenderoid Petite figure I got a few years ago; I remember spending about an hour struggling to attach that thing's arm, and even now I'm afraid to touch her in case that arm falls off and I have to go through it all again! You can tell I'm totally unpractised with these kinds of figures.

Wonder when I'll next update... >>;
