This is from around eight months ago and adapted from a tag "essay" I did when I reblogged a piece of fanart based on the mastermind's last scene.

I honestly found Tsumugi kind of pitiable in her last moments.
Her sad expression when her Junko cosplay comes off makes her seem like she's hollow inside, like she really can't bear to live in a world without Dangan Ronpa, and it's part of what makes her feel a lot more human to me than Junko ever did.
Tsumugi's actual death is something I think about as well. She probably expected to go out in a bombastic display just as Junko did in the first game, but not only was the death she did get incredibly anticlimactic (which is pretty fitting, all things considered) but it wasn't even the main focus of the final "execution"! It even makes me wonder if she ultimately didn't matter very much, or perhaps didn't matter at all, to Team Dangan Ronpa in the grand scheme of things.
She's undoubtedly a terrible person, but there's still something about her character that I can't help feeling a little sad for. =/
