Here's the last of the crossposts! This one's quite recent -- only from within the last three months or so.

I'll take Kodaka's word for it that the in-game audience isn't supposed to represent the real-life DR fanbase (or at least not entirely so) but if the game is calling out the RL fanbase, I think it's only a certain portion of it if anything.
Namely, the kinds of fans that don't actually give a shit about the characters and are mostly into the franchise to enjoy the spectacle of teenagers killing each other and being horribly executed, without giving the slightest bit of thought to how inherently fucked-up that premise is.Also the kinds of fans who worship Junko way too much.
Note how, in-universe, the NDRV3 kids were regular people who were basically turned into characters in a killing game (whether they willingly signed up for it or not, but I might talk about that another time) for the viewers' entertainment, and not only does the in-game audience eat up this snuff show without a second thought, but they also have no real empathy for what the characters in the game go through -- at least until Shuuichi finally gets them to give up and tune out.
I've always thought DR's premise was pretty dark and disturbing even with all its humour and colourful presentation -- at least compared to something like Ace Attorney* -- so it weirds me out a bit when other fans don't give that side of it much consideration. =/
*Which isn't to say AA is never dark or disturbing in its own right; I just think it's generally less so than DR.
