Can we please not treat Google Translate as anything remotely reliable?!

Oh jeez, what happened?

Nothing's actually happened on this front so much as I'm just voicing a pet peeve here. Still, when machine translations are so frequently garbled or inaccurate and can even spit out things that are the opposite of what's actually being said in Japanese, I wish people would take them with a bigger pinch of salt and/or wait for an actual human being to make a reliable translation before drawing conclusions.

Yeah, Google translate's not bad in a pinch but translating is way more complex than that. Especially a language like Japanese. And despite past instances of biased/inaccurate fan translations, humans are at least able to go back and check things and correct their mistakes.
