how many days?
Jul. 30th, 2025 09:18 pmI've been playing The Hundred Line since it released in late April, and beforehand had played the demo as soon as it dropped on the Switch... and as of last night, I've beaten the whole game! As in all 100 endings!
When I started playing, I didn't necessarily plan on or expect to get every single ending, given how dang huge the game is. After a certain point, though, my desire to explore a good number of different routes turned into wanting to see all of them, and the game's such a fun ride that I found myself more than happy to stay on it the whole way through.
Because I'm nuts, below the cut is a list of what order I did the routes in and the order in which I got each and every ending, plus a few more thoughts.

To start with, I did the first playthrough pretty much totally blind, and I reached my first route and ending blindly through choices I made naturally before I even started looking at the fandom.
That first route was, and the routes I did afterwards were...

(Yes, you're only getting the numbers for each individual ending -- partly so this doesn't weighed down with heavy spoilers for everything, and partly because writing my thoughts on every single ending down would be A Lot, to say the very least.)
Getting that as my first ending made me laugh, not least because I totally deserved it for knowingly taking that particular bait! What makes it funnier (albeit darkly so in some ways, given what certain endings are like) is that I saw afterwards that a lot of other players had far worse fates befall Takumi in the first endings they got!
I'm happy with having got Coming of Age as my first route through natural choices, even if it didn't end up being one of my favourites. On the other hand, I wish I'd finished the game with something other than S.F., because I ended up not liking that one all that much apart from a few of the endings. I also can't help feeling like I wound up frontloading a lot of the routes that were most enjoyable for me, to the point I was starting to deliberately save routes like Multiple for later. ^^;
My favourite routes were First and Second Scenarios (especially Second), Retsnom, Cult, Multiple and Goodbye. I also liked Rebellion a lot, even if it was a bit underbaked.
Wow, I wonder who my favourite character might be based on the above! Eito's my top blorbo for sure, and my other faves are Kako, Ima, Nozomi and Darumi.
I'll post a tier list on Tumblr at some point with a few further thoughts on a bunch of the routes. I'm open to discussion here as well if anyone wants to talk!

It feels weird to be done with this game after I've been playing it to death for three months, but I've seen Kodaka talking about wanting to possibly add even more routes through updates or DLC, so I'm glad this isn't necessarily the end of my time with these characters and the world and situations they live in.

Date: 2025-08-30 08:09 pm (UTC)Granted, the fact I liked to pop the game open just to listen to the OST and look through the CGs added more than a few hours to my stated playtime, but even accounting for that, it's easily more than 300 hours.no subject
Date: 2025-07-31 06:41 am (UTC)I also got Coming of Age first! I'd love to know the stats on first routes. It was an interesting place to start; as a relatively tame route that's not that far off the first hundred days, it set certain expectations for this game, meaning I was not at all prepared for wilder routes like Cult of Takumi.

Date: 2025-08-30 08:23 pm (UTC)From what I've seen, quite a few people got Coming of Age first! It's not too surprising to me, since I feel like that route is reached through pretty sensible choices. I also wonder about the wider stats on what routes most players got first... apparently, Cult is another common first route, and although I personally love that one a lot (dead doves and all) I wouldn't recommend it as a very first route, and it really shows from how traumatised I've seen some people get over its endings!
